I Have Always Felt Alone

I was born in January of 1959 in Norfolk, Virginia.  The youngest child of Carole (Frances) Harper Bowman and Francis "Frank" Dennis Bowman.
I had/have 2 older brothers--Dennis Francis Bowman and XXX Bowman. (The one I don't name is still living and to respect his privacy I will not be referring to him by name.)  My brothers were/are 13 months apart in age.  They are 7 and 6 years older than me, respectively.
With such a gap of 7 & 6 years and the fact that they were boys and I, a girl, it's as if I was raised as an only child in many ways.

My parents met as teenagers the story goes.  They attended the same high school.  They lived in the same 'neighborhood',  their backyards abutted each other and they went to the same schools.
My father was born in late 1931.
My mother was born in mid 1934.

My father graduated from high school in 1950.
My mother never graduated from high school, though she did get her GED years later.

My parents married in June of 1950.
My oldest brother was born in December of 1950.
You do the math. ;-)

I've  always felt like an afterthought.  Mom was busy with other things and the house. We developed a bond later in life after I had children.  I never made many friends and except for one they all drifted off with time.
My father had no time for me plus he thought girls were only worthwhile if they were thin and pretty and I was neither.
My father had no relationship with his father seeing as he left when my father was 9.  My father turned out to be a narcissist.
